Honda clr 125 engine stopping at idle

I think it smells like burning oil, definitely coming from the engine, very potent strong smell, and yes oil level is good -
My bike sometimes, mainly on longer rides, cuts out at traffic lights. when this happens there is also a bad almost burning smell after the ride. Not sure if it’s the engine overheating or if the idle is too fast? Also experienced a knocking sound after a long ride today, returned to normal a couple hours later.
