  1. Thanks for the advice. I now have a plan for tomorrow!
  2. Honestly, I don't know if it needs replacing or how to figure that out. Pressures dropped between Saturday and Weds on front from 36 to 33, back 42 to 40. I called the dealership. They said they don't fix tyres. I assumed this is standard? On a quest to learn more about maintenance!

    Tyres

Think I have a slow puncture in my front tyre. What is the general consensus - replace one, or both? Also, which tyres would you recommend? I have been quoted £550 for 2 Michelin Power 5. This is my first time having to change tyres and the price came as a bit of a shock. Any suggestions for tyres for an 09 hornet 600? Road use only, and I am not a knee dragger yet!! Nice one, cheers
  4. Hi everyone! I'm unlikely to ride again until spring What suggestions do you have for winter storage (in a garage) to ensure it's fit and ready to go when the time comes? Thanks
  5. Finally got round to checking it last night. It was a loose connection to the battery. All sorted, thanks for the advice. Cheers 🏍
  6. Hi all. Hope someone can help or point me in the right direction. I have an 09 hornet 600. Went for a spin this evening and noticed that when the road was a bit bumpy, two lights would appear; HISS Engine light Also, the revs would drop right down and I would lose power for a couple of seconds before it would continue again. This is a recent buy and only my second ride. Any idea what this could be? I would rather learn amd do the work myself if it's an easy fix. Cheers
  7. Thanks for the advice!
  8. Hi everyone! I have 2 questions on insurance. 1. All the quoted I have had for a bike I've agreed to buy state that the NCD are not protected. Does this mean that when I can't say I have 1 year NCD? If so, how do I get around this? 2. The bike will be my only transport. Might get rid and get a cage for the winter. I was planning on paying one annual payment. If I do that, should I get a refund (minus admin costs) for the time I do not own the bike? Thanks
  9. Yes, this is an error on my part for getting too distracted/excited at getting back on 2 wheels and not checking the finer details. I assumed that if it's in the handbook, it needs doing. How would I find out if the work actually needs to be done?
  10. Seen a nice 2011 hornet 600 and want to buy. It's covered 15k. Just called a dealership (I know they're generally expensive) been quoted £700-900 for the 16k service (including the valve clearences). I haven't ridden for a few years so I'm out of the loop with pricing and places. Can anyone recommend a good independent garage in Manchester that is cheaper than a dealership? Thanks
  11. Thanks for the advice and link.
  12. I know that helmets should be replaced every 3-5 years. The lid I have is about 7 years old. It was used for about 18 months, and been in storage since. Does it need replacing? My understanding is that it's the elements that weaken them. Any additional input / clarity welcome. Cheers
  13. Good advice. I had use of a triple a few years ago and loved it. The insurance is a bit of a killer though, which is why I was thinking of a hornet as an alternative. Similar riding position and power (although mostly at the top end)
  14. I haven't really considered the fazer. Don't know much about them to be honest.
  15. Hi all! I'm coming back to bikes... exciting times! Bikes I'm thinking of are 2007 (ish) hornet 600 and street triple 675. I know the valves should be done every 12k on triples. Is there anything else I should be looking out for? Cheers
