Guest Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Yesterday evening when pushing my bike round the back of my house, i noticed the chain creeking/ almost pusing/ gridining... and it bugs the hell out of me.I finally found out that it seems to be coming from the front /small sprocket, i lubed the chain (really really well) and loosened the chain, but its still there The chain now seems abit tight so tomorrow im going to loosen it..again. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? Or any ideas? It bugs me and is slightly worrying me thanks Quote

Chrissb6 Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Agree, sounds like a tight chain, check to see if the chain has streched in one spot. After ajusting a drive chain turn the rear wheel and check the ajustment to see if there is a tight spots, if you find it excessive then the chain is probably shot. Also check your spockets to see if there hooked at the tips or worn down on the drive side.A creaky chain is so dangerous. Guest Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Well its seem to of sorted its self out, i think the problem was the chain wasn't quite centralised with the sprockets... I've loosened it again for a bit more free plan (as it was set for free play with no weight) now it seems fine..Its currently well lubed and the sprockets seem fine.thanks for the help, ill keep an eye on it just in case. Not sure TBH, but when i looked at the chain and sprocket, the chain looked a little over to the right, where as now the sprocket is in the middle of the chain..weird thing to happen TBH but it doesnt seem to have caused an effect on it Quote
