DG Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Packed up and ready to rollhttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/DSCF4580.jpgI had to get some new rubber fitted as I still had the Scorps on, these would be no good on the type of terrain we'd be riding on. I was meeting a friend from Rochdale who had a set of tyres for me with plenty of life left in them. Dunlop 908s' The front is supposed to be a bit hairy on the road, but I thought what the hell we'll give it a go, despite Pete trying to talk me out of it.http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4584.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4586.jpgPete giving me a lesson on how to fit the brake pads whilst the wheel is still on the bike http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4583.jpgReady to roll again. We did plan to meet another guy; Chris from Halifax and ride down together, but my phone wasn't playing http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4583.jpgSetting up camp "Team Orange"http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4593.jpgWe were in good spirits and we even let a Beemer join us http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/DSCF4595.jpgWe had a night in the pub catching up with old and new friends, then it was back to the campsite ready for the next days ride. The first lane was pretty tough and I got stuck in a huge long puddle, I put my feet down and the water came over my boots Wet soggy feet were in order for the rest of the day. On the river crossing at the end of the lane I decided to have a lay down in said river I managed to get the bike upright before the cameras came out http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009003.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009005.jpgIt was so slippy I needed a hand just to move and turn the bike around, they're not light these Katooms ya know! http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009009.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/gavwales2.jpgWe headed for a place called Strata Florida, youtube it for a laugh! I was dreading this place as I've seen some of the videos of people dropping their bikes and watched them disappear First was a very tricky and rocky descent.http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/RHAYADER008.jpgStrata FloridaHow deep?? You just never knew until you was in it http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/thseptemberrally20090681.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/RHAYADER012.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009076.jpgTime for a group sauna http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/walessteam.jpgWe all managed to clear it all pretty much unscathed although I think most of us had a spill at some stage or other, we were just glad that it was at it's lowest water height for a long time. At the end of the lane one of the guys got a pucture, some of us rallied round, some of us took the mickey, but we got it fixed in the end http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009103.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009105.jpgWe hit the trails again.http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009133.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009135.jpgWhilst we were out my mighty Katoom hit a fantastic milestone; 40k miles http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/40kmiles.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/40kmilesceleb.jpgThe evening sun was setting and we just had time for one last lane.http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009153.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009162.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009180.jpgTeam Orangehttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009182.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/septemberrally2009185.jpgBack to the campsite for a shower then it was off to the pub again The next days pics.http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/IMGP4961_resize.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/IMGP4962_resize.jpghttp://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u38/ducatigav/wales%20equinox/IMGP4989_resize.jpgGassin' it! After it finished I had the long ride home getting in at 0.40 Monday morning, I was absolutely shattered, but what a top weekend! Great bunch of guys to ride with and I'm happy we didn't have to get the helicopter out like last time Quote
Fozzie Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Looks like you're leading the pack there, that KTM does seem able to be able to ford every stream and climb every mountain But do you think you could top Sherlocks attempt on the steep hill close to where you grew up? Quote
