Pete Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 So you can't fit the Oxford heated grips? What's the reason? Are they too long, too short, too big? Sounds weird to me.I'm in the process of making some muffs, so I'll let you know how easy that is (total material cost was £8 ). Having muffs would be great to cut out wind chill (which heated grips don't do for the tops of your hands)...but having both (like I'm doing ) is even better! Quote
Guest Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 hi i have a gilera st200 scooter with oxford hot grips can see to buy any muffs that fit(the throttle never releases) any adviseeven the dealer could not fit? am i better of with motorbike muffs? whats the problem, the throttle won't release with oxford hot grips? normal grips that are heatedslip over grips (velcro onto normal grips)Muffsif its normal grips, then when fitted adjust the throttle moving it in on the bar slightly, its more likely that the grip is against the bar end, and the friction is stopping it snapping back properly.. otherwise increase the size of the open hole so that it is slightly larger than the thickness of the handlebar again both will cause the throttle to stick , rather than snap back..or you could get over grips (heated) they velcro so can be removed in summer, and if required are suitable for pillion use wrapped around the grab rail.. (should get extra brownie points with the missus with that one...)muffs are good, keep the rain off your gloves, but can restrict your hands.. getting them in/out quickly..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zysIrfK__M Quote
Pete Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I agree with what Frankie has said. If they're a little bit too long and the bar end is catching just get a sharp knife (I used a cheap-o craft knife that has a long retractable blade. Short blades don't work so well) and just trim it down slightly until it's propa. Quote
