i have a suzuki gn125 it fails to give me any revs when i try to pull away it has been standing for over a year i think the carb is shitted up but also the air filter missing ????????

have you got revs and no power to pull away = clutch issue,

if no power/revs, then its probably a fuel/airfilter issue, as you say theres no air filter, i would get one, and fire some carb cleaner down the air intake before fitting the filter, you may need to strip the carb down, but lets try the simple things first..

also fresh fuel and some think like Redex may help, as will a fresh spark plug..

the bike revs ok at times then sticks on 4000 revs the cable not sticking ? when im ready to pull away the revs die and become sluggish and cuts out, i cleaned the carb but no change,

If the clutch is slipping, the engine revs away merrily but the bike won't move. So it's not that.

You can't run an engine without the air filter. It messes up the fuel air mixture by altering the air flow. Might be too rich, might be too weak. It may have fouled the plug.

Give the bike a service. Put the bike back into standard trim. Change the fuel and start from there.

Tinkering with what's not wrong won't fix it. 8-)
