Guest
Hi guys, I may need to find a regulator for the above bike. First I noticed that the battery was dry when it refused to start one morning, I refilled the battery and gave it a charge, then when I started the bike I found that the charge voltage was about 17 volts ( bit high I thought) so my first question is, is the battery internal resistace now high causing the high charge voltage? or is the regulator up the duff? If it is the regulator does anyone know where I can get a second hand one, or what ones will fit off other bikes. Many thanks in advance. Pete
It could be either a duff battery or a duff regulator (or both if the battery's been so up and down like that!). I wouldn't advise buying either until you've tested the regulator (unless you're rich!). I've just checked in my Haynes manual on how to check the reg / rec, but it may be bike specific (different colour wires) so best to check yours (as I'm sure you have one, right ?). You'll also need a multimeter...
Colin the Bear
It sounds like the regulator has gone and boiled the battery dry. I'd replace replace both with new. I wouldn't trust 2H electricals. Be a shame to cook another battery .
