Guest Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Went to fetch my new bike yesterday, posted in the general chat section.Got a few problems with it...Firstly, because its a kick start, there's no ignition system, which means that there's no ignition key . Other than loads of locks and chains, whats the best way to keep it secure? Is there any way I can get an ignition system/ immobiliser for it?Secondly, the rear light doesn't work properly. It comes on fine when I press the brakes, but it doesn't come on normally when the bike is running and I've got the lights on. It will just flick on slightly when I open the throttle and rev it a bit.Lastly, I don't know if the exhaust is road legal. Is there any way of checking? It seems pretty loud and I've never heard of the company that it's made by.Cheers for any help. Quote

Guest Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 As above really! One option for now is when you're leaving it somewhere public, take off the kick start arm, put it back on when you are riding xD If thats possible. Would certainly stump any possible thieves. Quote
Guest Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Cheers for the advice guys, there's no marking on the exhaust to say that its not road legal, so I'll leave it on for now, and I'm going to have a go at fixing the rear light tomorrow. I'll probably buy a disc lock tomorrow aswell, along with a big chain.Sounds like a good idea to take the kickstarter off as well, I'll probably have a go at doing it.Thanks again! Quote
Guest Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I wouldn't bother removing the kickstarter, most thieves wouldn't notice and would bump start it anyway.... just keep it locked up.. if it ain't nailed down, they'll have it away.. especially if its in plain sight.. if they see it outside your house, they may make plans to come get it, they dont break into gardens /sheds without having an inkling of the delights inside... glamdring Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Firstly, because its a kick start, there's no ignition system, which means that there's no ignition key Since when does having a kickstart equal a lack of ignition? If it's a road-going bike then surely it should have an ignition? Quote
Guest Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I'm not very good at technical terms! When I said it had no ignition system, What I meant was that there is no electric start and there isn't any way of switching off the battery connection, like you would with an ignition key. Which means that you can literally walk up to it and start it.Bad times!I'm just gonna have to be extra careful and get some descent security for it. Quote
