Guest Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Bloody neutral switch has died, did all wiring, connector checks etc., and traced it to inside the switch, which is a sealed unit, the good news is it's only sealed with RTV, so i cleaned all that crap out with my engraver, and found a cold solder joint on one of the wires, so hopefully it's a re solder job and refill with RTVhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v728/marsey0/DSC00487.jpgyou can see the cold solder joint at the top, had to cut all the wires to get all the RTV outthe little plastic pegs are there to hold the RTV in,as long as the soldering does not damage the plastic i should be ok. Guest Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) I'm pleased with it, considering Haynes said it was a sealed unit and could not be repaired. Edited February 18, 2010 by Anonymous Quote
Guest Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I don't completely understand what it does or what was wrong to be honest... But no one else congratulated you! Which i thought was mean, seeing as like you say, it was a sealed unit lol.I hope i can fix my bike like that in the future If not, can i have your mobile number... LOL. Quote
Guest Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Thanks for the congrats , but i was not looking for praise, what i was trying to do was to show that MOST so called sealed units can be fixed, i did something similar with the front brake switch. If you can get your bike up to Cumbria i don't mind having a go fixing your bike in the future LOL, you don't need my mobile number, just post your problem on here, there seems to be a lot of people more clever than me on this forum.
