Basically I've been a right prat and managed to catch me disk brake with WD40. Friction is gone, the brake is is good as useless, no surprise there. I dont know what to use to get it off, nor what to do about the pads. Any ideas?

Well don't point the bike at anything big!

You can get brake cleaners from Halfords et al which should sort out the problem - wiser heads will be along soon to give further advice.

yep, brake cleaner on the disc. then try it again, as it was wd40 you may get away without changing the pads, depends on whether their contaminated .....

and next time don't use wd40 near brakes. put it on a rag....

Used some Wynn's from halfords and its worked a dream. Pads seems alright. Will eventually change them.

I will heed your advice on the rag also :)

Thanks guys.

you can also use parafin to clean the discs as it will evaporate, if you have got any on your pads throw them away and get new ones, if they get wet you might find they don't work.
