Guest Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hi!I've just bought my very first helmet after being told I had a Shoei head. In the shop they only had an XL and it was really really tight, so I went online and bought an XR-1100 in XXL.It felt a great fit, but after a test hour sat on the couch I had a big red mark on the front of my forehead and I had started to feel pressure there. Seems my head is the wrong shape.Shops don't seem to carry XXL to much, so I was wondering if anybody could suggest a decent alternative? I really liked the XR-1100 for the ventilation and the completely removable inner.Anything around the £300 mark will do!Thanks Quote
Guest Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hey mate !! Pop in newbie section and say hi!If ya got an odd shaped head and a decent budget, then Arai. They will custom fit the liner to your noggin! Quote
JoshRS Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 just before anyone beats me to it, i have an XXL helmet too... Quote
Guest Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Yeah, I think Arai might be better. I have such a fat swede that about ten people told me I was a Shoei. I just did a quick measure though and my head is a decent bit longer than it is wide (viewing from the top). Not risking another online peformance so need to hunt down a shop that caters for the larger bonce! Now to convince the place I got it from to take it back. They should just accept it for not fitting, no? Also the Shoei came with no kitemark or EC-05 sticker inside or out. Not impressed by that at all.Anyway, will introduce myself in newbies now, and thanks for replying Quote
Guest Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 As for the retailer accepting a helmet as a return .... some do , some don't. Hopefully yours will! Quote
Guest Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 The solution-Go up to Metropolis in Vauxhall and find a very helpful assistant. I tried on the largest Arai helmet available in the UK - too small. So I've got a XXXL XR-1000. Apparently the largest helmet that any manufacturer imports into Europe. Nice and comfy all round and the forehead is a much better fit than the XXL on the XR-1100.Tried a few different cheek pads and ended up with the 41mm which made it nice and snug. Only available in black though. Hey ho.Now I can book my test Quote
Guest Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Glad you got it sorted My word though, you have a large bonce!!! Quote
