Morning Everyone, Hope your week is working out well :D

After reading a few articles about screwing up batteries from charging them with car chargers (and not being able to start mine). i,ve decided to change my battery as when i peered inside all the metal plates seem to be covered in white, which I'm assuming should probably be more metallic colour.

Now I'm going to ave to go for a cheap replacement for now ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT ). I have a Kawasaki Gpz750 r 1984 model which has a CB14L-A2 battery. ANd the charger I have is a RAC HP026, which states for batteries Between 7ah and 180ah (CB14L-A2 is 14ah). Should I still use this or will it treat bike batteries like eggs and fry it.

The Rac hp026 has fast charge and trickle as well and i noticed the ampage push on the trickle is a lot less, so should i use this and avoid fast charging.

you shouldn't see white you should see electrolyte, (acid)

trickle should be fine but don't go for the fast charge,.

remember to put the electrolyte in before charging a new battery (unless its a gel battery)

Thanks WalneyFrankie,

I do see the electrolyte as i have refilled and charged recently, but through the acid I see the plates are all white I'm guessing with corrosion. As I've been using it on fast charge should I just dispose of it (in a enviro friendly manner of course), as the it only lasts a couple of start attempts.

basically the plates have oxidised, like terminals do when they go white and furry.

but i'd agree the other one is past its best.
