What problems are you experiencing? You sure its not just poorly adjusted?

Posted

well it started off just after the snow when i noticed. the clutch was only biting when i was about 1cm from fully releasing the clutch lever so i adjusted the adjuster bolt thingy(do you like my technical terminology) and happy days it was biting further down but now ime back where i started without much adjustment left. but i suppose i should of put all this when i originaly posted but i was being lazy ha ha

I think its just poorly adjusted or needs a new cable matey. If you're really cheap, you can just shorten the cable you have, but thats a bad idea cos u might bugger it up...

Try a new clutch cable first :) Or a proper adjustment!

:stupid:

Re adjust it (i believe you should also be able to adjust it where it enters the clutch too, if you get me)

Then if to no avail, its probably the cable (sounds like that anyway) as it might just be old and breaking/stretching.

Plus its a much cheaper alternative

Yeah, you wont be needing a new clutch, bike clutches almost NEVER need replacing.

wind in the lever adjuster and adjust very slightly at other end, then make final adjustments on lever end,.

and /or replace the cable.

a worn clutch will cause the following...

clutch creep ....... the bike moves forward even though the clutch is engaged..

clutch lag, ..........the revs increase but speed doesn't...

Hi,

Had also fazer 99.

Through my short experience with bikes I have learned that clutch will always go to the top of the leaver.

My bikes always were there with short clutch - I will call it.

Untill it not slips you should not be worried.

Also there is something like self adjusting thing in most bikes (as I heard) and you should not realy touch it. As you can tighten it up too much and shorten live on your clutch.

I just learned how to use it and last time 3k miles after still the same :)

I am more up to cars technical stuff than bikes yet :)

Hope this helps
