choppedminx Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 HiHope someone can help. My sons Suzuki UX50 moped has no spark. There appears to be no power getting to any of the 4 connections on the coil unit (ignition on or off, or whilst cranking) - should there be? I cant seem to find a workshop manual or a wiring diagram anywhere!I have checked the igniting sensor (not sure if thats what its called!) with a continuity tester, when the rotor is turned the resistance changes and I get a beep from the tester, so presumably thats OK.I am starting to pull my hair out, and I have a grumpy teenager giving me earache - help!! Guest Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 you aren't getting power to the coil.. then go to the part before of the coil, work backwards.... eventually you find power in but not out, and that will tell you what isn't working...you have checked the main fuse?and the ignition is on?and the kill switch is in the run position.?sounds like Electrical brain / ECU Quote
choppedminx Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 Checked main fuse - OKIgnition is onNo kill switchecu/brain is built in to the coil unitAm I correct in thinking there shoud be a live feed to the coil unit from the ignition switch when turned on? Quote
Guest Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 would think it is a pulsed live to create the spark.. rather than perm live... would need to spin/fire the starter and check... Quote
Guest Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 if its getting power to the coil, but not out, then suspect the coil... Quote
Gamer Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 There is direct link of power from battery, but controlled by ignition switch - funny name is it not ? Can that coil unit is not mounted correctly - metal to metal (- goes through a frame, + goes by cable)so you have power - no spark on spark plug?follow WalneyFrankie advicecheck/change - spark plugcheck/change - power cable from coil to plug (sometimes they brake inside)check/change - coil unitcheck/change - sometimes just old/rusted power cable connection - was the bike not used for longer? choppedminx Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Still having problems. Changed the plug cap and everything seemed OK for about a month. Now have exactly the same problem, have changed the coil to plug lead, coil unit, and checked all wiring - HELP!! Quote
