Hey,

Im 15 years old and ive been rideing a motorbike since i was about 6 and i now use a 600cc yamaha XT ( so theres some experience there ).

Next Year i want to take a test to be able to ride legaly on the road.

MY problem is i dont know what test i should do and what itr would let me do once i have compleated it.

also if i bought a medium sized bike:

(Medium-sized motorcycles up to 25 kW (33 bhp) and a power to weight ratio of up to 0.16 kW/kg)

Could i get that restriced for the first year untill im 17 and able to do my "A" test?

This is what ive just read:

Thanks in advance

Its not a nice answer I am afraid. At 16, you will only be allowed (on the road) to ride a 50 cc. No buying a bigger bike and restricting it ...

At 17 however, you can then do your test and ride a restricted bike...

So this recently written guide, is only any good to you, if you are 17 or over ...

Or could i get my licence and not get a bike and save for a year then go fot the bigger bikes?

Also is there a limit on the size of bike you can restrict? and would it damage th ebik eor ware it in anyway?

Sorry to be asking so meany questions

Lol, no worries mate.

All the info you need is on here : http://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=47

ya just need to have a rummage ... :thumb:

If you are not bothered about riding on the road between now and your 17th, personally I'd wait. You 'll be able to save a fair bit between now and then. And in the meantime can be sorting out your gear ... etc etc

As for restriction (assuming you pass your test ok, CBT , theory, mod 1 & mod 2) ANY bike can be restricted but some restrict better than others. The Suzuki SV650 is a favourite... twins lend themselves to restriction quite well apparently.

Thank you dan :)

ok so ill need to do my CBT Test at 16 then ill keep the certificate safe and then do my mod 1 and mod 2?

Is there an order to these things? cause i have spent the last hour or so looking an dits all in diffrent orders and i cant pecie it all togeather :(

As for the bike, i was thinking something a little more sporty :P

My drean bike has always been a Ducati 999 or one of the new ones and they arnt to expensive second hand. Ill make sure to look after it :P

Thanks again

Is that the order? and can i do all that at 16 or do i do some later?

Ive also read about a light bike licence and a standard one?

"You do not need to have passed a theory test to pass your CBT and ride on the road but you must have a provisional licence."
