dieliekdawg Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 So, Mod1 on Thursday and I'm thinking about the rule that people with new licences will get disqualified and have to retake their tests if they get 6 points within the first 2 years of passing. Bearing in mind that this can be two speed cameras withing a mile of each other it seems a little harsh. Anyway, I've already got a full car licence - if I get 2 speeding tickets while I'm in the car will I still get disqualified? If I get 2 speeding tickets on the bike will I lose the bike entitlement only or lose my licence altogether?Just seems a bit harsh that after having a full clean (car) driving licence for 20 years I could be put in a position where I could lose it for two speeding tickets just because I passed my bike test recently? techno Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 When i got pulled i got told you would lose both but i believe some peeps found out on here it would be just your bike entitlement, am assuming it also wouldnt matter what vehicle you got caught speeding in/ on! Quote
Guest philgale Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 it starts from when you first got your full license, so adding bike entitlement to your driving license doesnt change anything... Quote
dieliekdawg Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 it starts from when you first got your full licenseAre you sure? My CBT instructor told me otherwise... Quote
Guest philgale Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 it starts from when you first got your full licenseAre you sure? My CBT instructor told me otherwise... i have read it somewhere, you get a license and then add entitlement to it as you pass more tests.ill have a dig around and find out for sure but i have read that somewhere...for example i have had my license for 7 years. 7 years with car entitlement on it and 3 with bike entitlement on it Quote
Guest philgale Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 taken from directgov direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/NewlyQualifiedDrivers/DG_4022566Under the New Drivers Act your driving licence will be revoked if you build up six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test. You’ll need to reapply for your driving licence as a learner driver and resit your driving test.the first driving test being when you got your car entitlement on your license 20 years ago....you got nothing to worry about Quote
spunky1976 Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 points on your licence go on there whether its your car, bike or work van etc as these are what your licence entitles you to drive/usenot sure if its to do with a certain year of passing driving test but the 2 year thing didn't apply to me when passed bike test as i had already got licence and been driving 15 years Quote
