just been out to change front break pads on my honda varadero 125, just taken cover screw off but cant undo the bolts that hold pads in one of the retaining bolt hex fitting has been totaly ronuded off would it be cheaper to put her in the garage or buy a new caliper and fit it myself anyone know good online supplier.

a new complete caliper will be over £100, whereas a garage will remove the bolt and replace it.

is it an allen head fitting? if so try a TORX , these are star shaped and will cut into the hex, you will need a new bolt though,

try david silver spares, (google)

Another way providing you have access. Get a hacksaw and cut a groove into the top of the bolt and then use a flat screwdriver.

If it's a sunk bolt, get a flat screwdriver or something similar and a hammer. Then position the screwdriver at the edge of the bolt at and angle and hammer it gently to try turning it enough to do the first option.

A trick my grandad taught me when I rounded off the screw for my brake cylinder 8-)

it has a allen head fitting but the allen head on it is just rounded off cant get anything in to it as its sunken from face cant see how you would get the bolt out

using a Torx (see pic) bit, hammer it home into the hex head and undo,
