can he just take his test?

my partner has his cbt, he did it 18 months ago, what would he need to do to get is full bike licence? he is 37. also what will it cost? thinking about paying for him to do it for his birthday :roll:

He'll need to do his Theory/hazard perception test, then the module 1, then Module 2. If he does it on his own bike (a 125 I assume?) he'll have to do an A2 test, which will mean he can't ride a bike bigger than 33bhp for 2 years, after that he can ride anything.


Or he can do a DAS (direct Access) on a bigger bike and then he can ride anything right away (but it'll cost more.)


Not sure of the actual costs though, sorry!

He could just book and take the 3 parts of the test, but then he'd miss out on professional training which is all geared up to getting him through the tests and equipping him with the skills necessary to stay alive on the roads.


It IS possible to pass without training (my own son did it recently :roll: ) but quite honestly it's not something I would personally advise doing for the reason given.
