Hey, im 20, and live in North East England, I completed my CBT nearly 2 years ago, and it is near its expiration.

I was wondering, what would be the quickest way to get on to bigger bikes?

I would love to do my Direct access, though you need to be 21 to do so, and am aware i can do my test, at 20, but have to wait two years to get on to bigger bikes.

I am more than capable of handling bigger bikes, and have rode since i were walking.

Im looking for any advice on this topic, would it be easiest for me to just stop riding, until im 21 and complete my Direct Access? or is it possible to take my Direct Access at 20, and use my 125 until im 21?

thanks for your help :)

you will still need to renew the cbt... but you can do the mod1 and 2 tests, then take the test again once you are 21 (or stick with the restriction)... bit of a ball ache to be honest. Probably easiest to renew the cbt and then do the Direct Access once you turn 21.

Cheers man, do you recon instructors would pass a 20 year old through his Direct Access aslong as he remains on a 125 til 21?

if not, i may jut take Direct Acess when im 21 and not ride the roads this summer

You cant even do the DAS route if under 21, so no chance of that. Just do the test now, you will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years, then you can ride anything. As you have time to wait till your 21 might as well.

Also see Cobbz post on doing the test, is excellant

IMHO there's not much point in doing your test on a 125 now if you'll be 21 soon, as you'd only have to do it again when you turn 21 if you want to ride derestricted bigger bikes before your 2 year restriction is up.

I'd renew the CBT now, get your theory out of the way if you haven't done so already, then carry on riding on 'L' plates until you turn 21. Then do your test on a big bike and you can ride whatever you like.
