DeeJ Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Got my Fast Bikes mag through the post yesterday, and received new grips. So just cut my old ones off, and went to fit the new ones, and left grip was a bit of a squeeze but got it on in the end.And my throttle is plastic sleece over a metal bar. Obviously can't attack it like i did the other bar incase i break the throttle cable or plastic sleeve.I have got it half way on and I'm at my stress limit.Whats the easiest way to get them on Quote
Ian G Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 try a bit of washing up liquid it will help it slip on Quote
duane69 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 if you use washing up liquid it will slip off , I'd use a little bit of petrol and don't forget to put a penny in the end of the grip Quote
Mightycaz Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Stretch it with your nob first, it should just slide in then........... Quote
Guest Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 heat will be helpful, as suggested, and a lubricant that will evaporate ... Together will be a doddle ... Quote
Guest Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Shit, worng forum................. looooooooooooooooooooool Why what forum where you thinking of posting on ( i think i can guess ) Quote
Guest Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 immerse in boiling water to soften the rubber, and hair spray or WD40 will aid them sliding on,As it is the throttle and its ridged, i doubt they will turn on the tube, or come off easily..replace bar ends after and check throttle, make sure it snaps back and isn't stiff. spunky1976 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 don't forget to put a penny in the end of the grip erm why put a penny in end?? Quote
Jimmi_929RR Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I use a tiny bit of copper grease to slide them on and some Renthal grip glue to secure them to the tube. Piece of piss to get on and never come loose. Quote
DeeJ Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Used abit of WD40, and loads of boiling water. In the end I just sweared at it and they magically popped on.Thanks everyone for your help Quote

Obviously can't attack it like i did the other bar incase i break the throttle cable or plastic sleeve.I have got it half way on and I'm at my stress limit.Whats the easiest way to get them onI got mine as well yesterday but pleased I didn't cut the old ones off like it said as I've put them back on. The throttle side seems far too tight. Someone suggested KY jelly as it's a water based lube so it'll dry up when it's on if you try it get the missus to get it as you may get accused of poking someones 'brown eye' if she finds it. Quote
spunky1976 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 popped mine on last night throttle side fraction shorter than originals but nothing a set of r & g bar ends won't put right then again just had the old tape measure on the throttle side its only 115mm should be 125mm like other side Quote
