Guest Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I've been trying to get my GSX750F running after being stood for 5 years. The carbs have been cleaned including the jets. All floats free and set about the same height. All cylinders sparking fine but it will only run on 3 cyls with the 4th occasionally. I've swapped the float from one of the working cylinders to the one not working and this made no difference. The diaphragms look ok to me. It revs with a poor response. With the airbox off the carb slides (plastic slides with needle attached) move erratically when revved, I would have thought this should be a smooth operation. Any ideas please??? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 remove the slides from arb bodies and give them a clean up in all that time chances are dirt has got in them and making them stick could also be the diaphrams gone hard or saggy would have same effect as well Quote
Guest Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Thanks for the reply. I've already cleaned the slides but the diaphragms do seem a bit saggy. If the diaphragms are shot what would this cause? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 slides not opening as smoothly as they should making the running rough and spluttery Quote
Guest Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 OK thanks, looks like I'll be buying some new diaphragms this week!. I appreciate your help. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 they are not cheap try a compny called nrp think they in mancester or somewhere near google them they will be lot cheaper than buying from suzuki Quote
Guest Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 you might want to google Carb Balancing as well.. youtube has a good video on the matter"> "> Quote
Ingah Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Sorry for probably stating the obvious, but on the off-chance this helps... you have changed the 5+ year old spark plugs anyway, right? If you haven't and don't want to waste any cash yet, (again probably obvious stuff) i'd try swapping them around (rather than replacing them) to see if the problem follows the plug I second the recommendation for NRP. Anything's better than OE prices! Quote
