I have a pair of Sidi Black rain boots.

Zip on one boot stuck and then broke this evening. Has anyone had this before and managed to have repaired? If so did it need sending back to manufacturer (?cost) or was it a general shoe repairer?

Any thoughts or ideas would be gratefully received. Am in Scarborough but can easily get to York / Hull or wherever locally if anyone knows of any specific places which could help.

Thanks

has the pull just come off, or is the whole zip bust../.

if just the pull, insert a keyring to act as a pull...

how old are the boots...?

The pull has come off and the body of the pull has broken in the process so that now it won't go back on the zipper teeth. Therefore no pull left to insert a keyring into - have done that prev with jacket zips etc. I tried fiddling with it last night for ages

I think its going to need either a new pull thing - if you can get it on as of course the bottom of the zip is stitched into the boot - or a whole new zip!

Boots were bought about 4-5 years ago

you could try a cobbler / shoe repairer, or a horse tack and bridle repairer..

they both have the tools to stitch leather.

I had a quote from my local cobbler of £25 to replace the zip, so as Simon says...try a cobbler.

Thanks guys. We had come to that conclusion - needed 'man who can' to replace zip!

Just thought I would update this for anyone in the York area.

Boot zip replaced - excellent job by a place called Cox's in the Shambles - 15 quid to replace zip and was done in seven days. Brill!!

Other quotes we had had were 25 quid or more and would be sent away for at least 2 weeks
