Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, looking to get a new helmet for the upcoming winter... Thinking of going for one of those cheap "Box" helmets. Gonna get it a pinlock, and try to keep it in good nick... So i'd like a visor protector.Just wondering if anyone has one? Or knows where i can buy one?If you don't know what i mean, its like a plastic clear sticker you put across to stop it getting scratched e.t.c.... You get them for phone screens and iPod screen e.t.c., something like this;iPhone Screen ProtectorAlso, to combine the thread... Are pinlocks visor specific? I've looked on the bay but they all say like Shoei, or Nitro, or Arai in the title... So i dunno if they'll fit the box helmet properly. Edited August 27, 2010 by Anonymous Quote
DeeJ Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 You can get tear off posts, but there expensive, and are only available on the higher value helmets atm.But on cheaper helmets, you can get new visors for about £10 so bear that in mind Quote
Mightycaz Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 I got the Mrs a box helmet, they are made by Oxford so should be OK build quality wise. Might be worth just buying a few spare visors...... Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Thats a good point... Just check on eBay and they're more like £15, but guess so... Thing is, the helmet i'm looking at is only £50 xDIf not, might just buy a load of the iphone ones and plaster them on Cheers for the posts.Which helmet did u buy the Mrs?Also, to combine the thread... Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Not visor specific Dan mate. As long as the pins are in the correct place, then the pinlock will fit (hence the DIY kits) Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 The pinlock? Its essentially a thin flexible piece of plastic with a rubberised edge. Its this rubberised edge which creates an airtight seal (like double glazing). the pins are close enough together to creat a force on the pinlock which keeps it pressed against the visor. The pins are also eccentric so as you rotate them you can increase or decrease the force.Worth having mate Quote
Guest Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Ahhh Cheers Dan.Helpful as always xDSorted, will order one with the helmet... Quote
