Guest Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 hi. My gsx 600 f has been in the garage for carb and valve ajustments and general check over as it was running poorly now she runs ok but is porducing a pretty low spark and at tick over will die. Could this be down to cdi as all 4 plugs give weak spark. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 when was the last time it had new spark plugs i would try changing them first as is cheaper than cdi unit Quote
Guest Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 changing the plugs would be first option, and part of the service, so not a wasted exercise...and the plugs are fed by two coils, so would be unlikely for both ... make sure the plugs and caps are seated securely, to give least resistance. Guest Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 i have tested it with some other plugs and it is still a weak spark everything seems to be sealed ok, its just at those low revs it wants to cut out, Quote
Guest Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 how old are the other plugs.. ?you could try another coil... just to rule it out.. or in.. Quote
Guest Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 the other plugs were quite decent of another working bike, i will try and test the coils if i can, is it possible its an engine problem or carbs maybe. Quote
Guest Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 if its a weak spark then its electrical. Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 ok. cheers i have sourced a new cdi unit so hopefully this does it, could it be anything else other than cdi. when i drove it back from the garage it was a little hard to start and under load strugled to drive, it would also only seem to get to a certain speed/revs Quote
