i know they ask various questions but i was wondering what sort of ones was you asked?

maybe some common ones keep coming up,

and how many do they actually ask you?

I was asked three

He asked me how to check the condition of the chain and the first part of the second question I thought was a trick...*

'if you take a pillion on the back, which way should they face?'

'.... ..... forwards?'

Then asked me about adjusting the bike for carrying a pillion.

*I've since been in informed that in days gone by you were able to carry a pillion who was facing backwards :|

I got asked what advice I would give a pillion passenger, how I would check the tyres and show me how I would check the front brake (get the bike off the stand and wheel bike forwards and demonstrate front brake is working)

Doh, re read the original post.

I was asked about checking oil level, carrying a pillion and tyre safety.

For my first Mod 2, I was asked to test the front brake, and explain how to check the chain for wear and tear.

For my second Mod 2, I was asked to test the horn, and explain how carrying a pillion will affect the bike's performance.

What's the answer to testing the front brake? other than pushing and pulling the lever, the only way I can think is to put your hand behind the brake light and pull the lever. But that only verifies that the switch works, and the fuse and bulb isn't blown

i dont understand the chain wear and tear bit, i no to check the chain you see how much slack its got,

what would the wear and tear be?

@sparkeh9: You're absolutely right. Sit on the bike, push the bike gently forwards and gently pull the brake lever (obviously not so hard you lose balance!).

In actual fact, the brake light test is another question in itself...but you won't be asked to do these two tests together because they are both 'show me' tests! :D

@bumble: Apart from tension, ensure that the chain is lubricated, there are no stuck links and that the chain is in alignment with the wheel.
