Donnie Brasco Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Today I had a go at doing my front pads,my manual suggested that I should remove the brake pipe from the caliper,so after doing that and removing the caliper from the bike I took those two pins off(two piston caliper),old pads came out,new ones in,pins back in and all bolted back on to the front shocks, now I've also had to bleed the system again so loosened the nipple on the caliper and kept pumping,I did get some braking eventually but not exactly what I expected.A bit stange because I've bled brakes once before when I changed the fluid and it all went fine and solid.also lifted the front wheel to see if it rolls freely and it kinda dosen't,is that normal when you fit new pads in,will they go through the stage of breaking in?CheersDonnie Quote
Colin the Bear Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Pull the brake lever and place a cable tie round the lever and hand grip. Leave it over night. Hey presto the air will rise into the reservoir. Quote
Donnie Brasco Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Went to see my grease monkey today and he took a look,it turns out I still had considerable amount of air in the system! Also he said the binding I was talking amount is minimal and I just need to do a few miles to break into the new pads Quote
