struggling to fix my daelim roadwin 125!

my roadwin's been stuck off road for almost two years now while I have been off at uni, and I've finally gotten around to fixing it! ...however what I thought would be a simple replacement sprocket has me stumped. I've removed the wheel, all by the book, unbolted the sprocket, and yet the sprocket won't lift off so that I can replace it. This is my first bike, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can by tinkering myself, but I'm really unsure whether this is a normal problem (and I'm being stupid), or if the sprocket is genuinely stuck on the wheel. Is this normal? Should the sprocket just lift out once unscrewed? I would appreciate any feedback!

some bikes have a large circlip round the centre holding the sprocket on as well otherwise it just needs gentle tapping round it to beak the seal made from the dirt

ah thanks! I think its a circlip, unluckily i don't have any circlip pliers. At least I know what I'm dealing with now, cheers!
