Guest Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 my roadwin's been stuck off road for almost two years now while I have been off at uni, and I've finally gotten around to fixing it! ...however what I thought would be a simple replacement sprocket has me stumped. I've removed the wheel, all by the book, unbolted the sprocket, and yet the sprocket won't lift off so that I can replace it. This is my first bike, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can by tinkering myself, but I'm really unsure whether this is a normal problem (and I'm being stupid), or if the sprocket is genuinely stuck on the wheel. Is this normal? Should the sprocket just lift out once unscrewed? I would appreciate any feedback! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 some bikes have a large circlip round the centre holding the sprocket on as well otherwise it just needs gentle tapping round it to beak the seal made from the dirt Quote
Guest Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 ah thanks! I think its a circlip, unluckily i don't have any circlip pliers. At least I know what I'm dealing with now, cheers! Quote
