Hello,

I need to fit a new connector on my stator, i have the connector and 3 new clips to crimp and solder onto the wires.

What i need to know is, what type of solder is going to be best to use on this connection as its going to get quite hot and probably alot of vibration too.

Do i use lead solder, lead free or silver? Do i just get the stuff with flux/rosin core or is it best to get seperate flux and add it before i solder?

thanks for any help

Clean everything thoroughly. Tin both parts then hold together with heat. Solder will only run where flux is. For small electrical jobs the stuff with the flux core in it is easiest. Remember it's a glue not an overcoat. 8-)

I also put a bit of heat shrink tubing round the joint after soldering.

Holds the joint together nicely and seals it up.
