Hello,

I noticed on Friday that my tyre was flat, I reinflated it to check it was not some kids that would have deflated it and in 24h it was completely flat again.

I just tried looking for a puncture but none is obvious. There are 4 spots/marks that could be the puncture but I cannot feel any air coming out of them so I cannot use a repair puncture kit :(

I made the following measurement

11.40 - 43PSI

11.55 - 42PSI

12.10 - 41PSI

12.25 - 40PSI

12.40 - 39PSI

Would the tyre deflate faster while riding with me on it or should I still expect a 1 PSI/15min deflation?

Would it be safe to ride 10miles at slow/normal speed to go to the closest tyre fitting place (with does wheel removal) with such tyre?

Or should I buy something like the "motul - Tyre Repair" to be 100% safe? I heard that it would be a pain to clean/remove so I am hesitant to use it :(

Any advice/comment would be welcome.

Thanks

Ludo

I would expect the tyre to deflate faster when you are riding it becasue it is under load. the temp goes up and the tyre pressure increases putting any area of weekness under extra stress.

also the tyre is currently losing air as it is standing in an upright position. if you have a slight hole in the tyre, any lateral movement or lean could also add stress to the area.

if it were me, i'd get a mobile guy out to fit a new one. but im a natural worrier.

p.s. could be the valve??

I rode a bike to the garage with a nail in my tyre and can say it is a very unsettling thing to do.

If you really have to take the bike in, then ride really slow and easy as if it was going to go flat at any minute

use washing up liquid in water to find where the leak is. If its in the center portion of the tyre it can be repaired.

You can then either use one of the do it yourself temporary fixes which some people use till the tyre needs replacing (never if its the front tyre) or you can then ride to a garage and get it properly repaired.

Or take the wheel off and take it to a garage. I wouldnt advise riding as it is especially if its the front wheel.

Thanks guys.

I had a decent quote for the mobile fitting so will go that way. The back tyre almost had 7,000 miles so needs soon replacing anyway.

Just need to decide on the tyre but will post a new topic for tyre.

Thanks
