Guest Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I am in process of booking accommodation and buying tickets for four days at Isle of MannTT next year. For those that have been before, I'd like to ask: 1/ do i need to pay for grandstand tickets each day I'm there or am I able to just walk around and watch the races from points along the race route. (I still would like to watch from Grandstand atleast one day.)2/ Is the last day the best day of racing to experience, or which day is the highlight?.3/And also, is there a better area to find accommodation than other areas. Thanks in advance folks. It's all so exciting planning all this. Quote
Ratser Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Hey mate. There are far better locations than the Grandstand to view.Cronk-Y-Voddy, bottom of Barrgarrow, anywhere up on the mountain, Cregg, and many many more. Each race has it's moments, although the two superbike races are the main attractions, especially the senior on the final day.You can walk round the garages when there are no races on, and usually a lot of the riders are there for photos, autographs etc.We had Grandstand tickets this year for the supersport 2 race, and while it was great seeing the starts and presentation and pit stops, it wasn't the best viewing in my opinion. Not sure on availability of Granstand tickets normally, as we acquired them free due to cancellation of the first run from a friend of a friend. Also we stay at a campsite, at Quarterbridge near Douglas centre. Have done for the past 3 years.Getting B&B's and hotels can be very difficult.Although there are probably better campsites all over the island, even up by the Grandstand.Hope that helps a bit, and maybe see you there next year.Edit to add: Peel is a lovely wee place if you can get accomodation there, or Ramsay too. Douglas was absolutley dead this year despite Bushys beer tent and stunt riders down the front. We have threatened to try Peel and Ramsay as well. Quote
