CBR 125 ELECTRICAL / STARTER ISSUE

Recommended Posts

OK i have a CBR 125 2005, I recently broke down on my bike, when i managed to get it started and got back home and left it ofver night. The issue i have now is the bike has no power to lights, dash etc when ignition is turned on, no reaction from starter switch. and clicking noise near battery for about 5 seconds then nothing after that.

I managed to jump start, and everything was operating normal light, indicators, but the rev counter did not operate as normal max rev on the clock was 2000,when taking power of the accelerator revs go down to zero then back to 2000 revs.

As i got of the bike i decided to see what happens if i now hit the starter switch and the bike just cut out as if it was a kill switch.

Things been done in the last 4 weeks are.

1. New Battery been fine and always started.

2. New Regulator

3. Alarm taken off.

obviously trying to fix as no where open over xmas.

Have you checked the fuses? Some bikes have a fuse on the solenoid (the thing you can hear clicking when you try and start it) check that that is ok, and all connections to battery, solenoid, started and earth are tight and free from corrosion :thumb:

yes have checked all fuses and all are fine, i have a feeling it is either the ignition coil or starter relay

The coil wouldn't do that, but it could be the solenoid (starter relay)
