i'll shortly be doing a service on the bike but need a bit of advice.

their book recommends the following oils

(Recommended) Transmission oil: ROTRA MP 80 W 90.

(Recommended) Gearbox oil: ROTRA MP/S 85 W 90

but i am having trouble sourcing the 85w90.

any ideas what to do

thanks

i have seen a few oil companies suggest I an use the 80w90 in place of the 85w90.

any thoughts guys.

The first number with the "w" is the viscosity when cold. Unlike normal liquids that get thicker when cold, multigrade oils manage the miracle of being thinner when cold. The 90 is the important number as this is the viscosity at running temperature.

The oil will have a temperature/climate range as I would have thought at absolute zero it would be a solid 8-)
