howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 When I start the bike - whether its from hot or cold. Its over revving. When I am on it and I let go of the throttle it is still over revving and then settling down. Its going when I start it and am not touching anything. I'm unsure about motorcycles so any help will be appreciated. Also whether or not its related I dont know. - but when the engine is turned off. Its pinking fast and then slower and slower until eventually stopping. Once again any help.. Quote
Nogin Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 sounds like its running rich to me and the carb needs setting up.personally i would shoot it! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 sounds to me like you needto start by checking for air leaks around the carb and inlet rubber and then checking out the carb it self and the mixture settings Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 do you mean the pipe off the carb. how would i set up the carb then? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 has anyone already fiddled with the bike? if not then look at the rubber tube that connects the carb to the engine and make sure that the bolts/clip which ever it has is tight.then check the one from the airbox to the carb and make sure clips are tight.when was the last time it was servicied and air filter cleaned/replaced? Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 its 2012 only done 313kol i will check them pipes now anty more help please? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 if its a 2012 bike then it must be under warranty take it back to the shop and get them to check it over so that you dont invalidate the warranty Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 yes i only got it a few days ago second hand. the address in the service book is in birmingham. i know another shop near me that sells and fixed these bike, do i ask them to look fix it? or wont they as its second hand? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 go in and speak to them you have proof it is still under warranty so if they are lexmoto agent they should be willing to look at it for you as a warranty job Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 OK TRY THAT FIRST THING... COULD I DEMAND A NEW BIKE???/ Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 no you could not demand a new bike as you bought it 2nd hand but as long as you talk to the shop nicely they should be willing to help you just pop in and explain the problem you are having with the bike they might even be able to check it out there and then for you,BUT go in being awkward and stroppy they can and possibly will make you wait untill there is available time in the workshop Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 ok so something like the carb would i have to pay for? Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 and if they wont help what can i do? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 they might not have time to help as soon as you go into the shop but if they are lexmoto agent they should help just might take a day or 2 for them to have time before worrying about everything else just go in adn see what they say then go from there Quote
howard48 Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 mate thanks for your help... one more thing in new to riding, i got my cbt 3 days ago i have a full car licence is it right that my cbt last forever.. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 no your cbt lasts 2 years and you have to either retake your cbt every 2 years or pass your test on the bike that will then last forever (well untill you are 70 anyway) Quote

Probably not. The spinning wheel is a dragging clutch, as long as it is not excessive then it is no problem. The loud noise is probably the exhaust, might be blowing, might be loose.Did you take it to a mechanic? Quote
howard48 Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 they told me to spray the carb i only had a bike for three or four days. i dont even know what im doing. i didnt think twist and go had clutch Quote
Weebl Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 they told me to spray the carb i only had a bike for three or four days. i dont even know what im doing. i didnt think twist and go had clutch Well they obviously don't want your money to fix your bike then. Take it to somebody more helpful who will.As to twist and go, yes they have a clutch (albeit an automatic one) and it is supposed to do that if it is twist and go. How do you think the back wheel drives around when you twist the throttle? The bike does not know or care if the back wheel is on the ground, if you rev it, it will spin the wheel. Quote
howard48 Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 i had a play with throttle screw and now wheel has stoped spinning on the stand, but i still have the coughing sound like a blockage... its a 2012 bike with 340k on the clock. the man in garage said spray the clutch and run it for a bit it colud have shit in it. and the reving is still happening its very slow rev thing not like when you pull throttle... and the road is kinda wierd.. Quote
Weebl Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Sounds to me like all you have done is turn the idle down. I am not being nasty mate but trying to fix problems that don't exist (spinning wheel on centrestand) while also trying to fix real problems will end in tears. You need to get it to somebody who knows what they are doing.Do you have all the paperwork from the bloke you bought it off? Has it been serviced with a stamp from a mechanic if it needed it? If you have a nearly new bike with an up to date service history, you can go to the dealer and very politely insist that they sort it for you.My advice is to stop twiddling screws on the carb without really knowing what you are doing. If it is running too rich (which is not a given) and If you did manage to lean it off, and you went 1/4 of a turn too far, it will blow up. That will then be your fault and the garage will quite rightly not do anything about it, unless you pay them for all the work required. Quote
