Guest Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) So I bought some gear from Aldi:Motorcycle Cover: £8.99http://thumbnails111.imagebam.com/31368/b6f1d5313679612.jpgThis seems really good! Not tried it.Alarmed pad lock: £8.99http://thumbnails110.imagebam.com/31368/49c20a313679620.jpgVery good indeed. Depending on which way you put the shackle in, the lock with be alarmed or not.Paddock Stand: £29.99http://thumbnails109.imagebam.com/31368/66b177313679624.jpg http://thumbnails110.imagebam.com/31368/2eff23313679631.jpg So far so good, with option for front wheel!"Touring" Boots: £29.99http://thumbnails111.imagebam.com/31368/94639c313679634.jpg http://thumbnails111.imagebam.com/31368/2354ae313679639.jpg http://thumbnails109.imagebam.com/31368/d0c2ee313679650.jpg Edit: I'm returning these because they're terrible. I'd rather spend 2x/3x the money and get some good ones. If you're considering getting some, try them on in the shop! The biggest loser here so far. Made out of terrible material. Barely any protection (only front side). Tiny mini padded ankle protection (like a thick plaster) and no other protection. One size smaller than your normal shoe size is needed. I may consider returning these as they are simply quite bad.Chain Lock: £9.99http://thumbnails112.imagebam.com/31368/d519f8313679641.jpg Good... not used it yet.If you have any questions, feel free to ask!Hope this has been helpful! CGD217 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Very good, I had a look myself I got the base layers. The boots are the same as last year and they didn't look too good, we tried them on last year and they weren't too comfortable. The looks and paddock stands look good but the stand said it was only rated to 200kg but my bike is 215kg so didn't bother. Quote

Marmalade43 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I have one of those alarm padlocks. The batteries have a short life and make bugger all noise after rain because they fill up with water. I did buy some jeans from there toddy for £30 Quote

Abraxix92 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Went there on the first day of the sale, i went as i was told about boots, as mine are not so waterproof now and a little "broken" cosmetically, but personally these ones in aldi did not look good protection wise, so i didn't get that, instead i got some new summer gloves, the bike cover and the alarm pad lock, all seem's good! maccy Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 You will have to let us know how that cover performs, from experience any cheap cover I have had usually tears after a bit of strong wind. If it does seem strong, I would still be tempted to brush a waterproofer like fabsil over it.The alarm padlocks look good, but not for securing the bike, Maybe on a gate or garage door. For a cheap paddock stand, it isnt really that cheap at £30.Forget quality, the boots just look horrible. Glad you're taking them back. And I imagine a £10 aldi chain could be bolt cropped by a toddler with nail clippers, some of the leading brand chains can be cut in seconds. Quote
Marmalade43 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 the covers are at aldi 220cm long and meant to fit all bikes, i looked on ebay and the xl ones are 235cm+ so i ordered one online to replace one of mine, £9 delivered, you can get them for as little as £4.40 Quote
Abraxix92 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 The alarm padlocks look good, but not for securing the bike, Maybe on a gate or garage door. For me it's just another backup one, 5 chains at the moment, 2 oxford and then 3 other lightweight ones for easy transportation while in town and stuff. Quote
