I have recently posted a topic 'new rider' just to more information on test, bikes etc.

everyone was very helpful so I can only thank the people who posted on my topic.

I passed my cbt last weekend and am going to book my A2 very soon once I have passed my theory.

I just wanted to know if the A2 test is hard? the person I am doing it with is training me for 2 days for module 1 and and extra day for module 2. I have never rode a bike before apart from the cbt, I found it difficult at first but got the hang of it very quickly.

Am I taking the A2 test too soon?

Also, what should I expect within the test?

There are videos of Mod 1 on YouTube. Watch a couple, you'll see it's not really that hard you did some of the stuff on the yard for CBT. Bigger bike (imo) is actually easier on the slow control stuff, just work the clutch and keep the revs up the school will get you to a point you can do it, if it's like my local school they actually put the cones a lot tighter so if you can do it with them you can easily to the proper one. Mod 2 is just a road ride don't get nervous and remember the training you will have been given, you get 10 minors on Mod 2 so as long as you don't do anything really silly it's fairly hard to fail.

I think you are doing it right getting a licence ASAP. I racked up a lot of miles on a 125 with L plates, it did help my riding and I wouldn't call it wasted time but in hindsight if I had to do it all again I wouldn't have bothered and gone straight to a proper licence.

in a word..... no.

if you have a basic undestanding of how to ride a bike your halfway there as your not too cock sure of yourself. as long as you listen and work on what your instructor points out then u will be fine.

the main difference you will notice is that the bike will be bigger than when you did your cbt, this is a double edged sword, because as pointed out its easier to manouver once you get the hang of it but there is a LOT more clutch work than on the baby 125's and they are not as light so throwing them around will take some getting used to.

watch the videos but dont listen to the scare stories about the swerve test, there is ample room to swerve and build up speed, admittedly its easier to build the speed on the A licence as you just stay in 2nd gear but on the A2 bikes they get you to shift gear as you exit the corner.

you will be fine and good luck
