Hi guys.

First problem with my bike today only had it 2 weeks, its a 2005 honda cbr 125 05

Was riding to halfords to grab a bike cover as im gonna be keeping it outside, i was turning into my parking space and felt something pulling and i realised the ignition barrel had sunk down so i stopped and had a proper look, the guy in halfords helped me out a bit.

The key was bent (lucky it didnt snap) it turns out, there are 2 screw holes which hold up the ignition barrel in place to the metal holder, seems only 1 side was screwed in and the head of the screw snapped off.

Now i can put a new screw in if i can find the right size but cant seem to be able to get my fingers in to screw it, any ideas?

also how do i get the old screw out to be able to screw both sides.

thanks

Noticed on the 2005 cbr personally the brackets are a pile of Shit, try take the side farings off for space, that won't help, but once the side is off take the front off and let the headlights rest on something crouch size, it still doesn't give you alot of room around the ignition but everylittle help's, when i couldn't reach certain parts while repairing my cbr i luckily had my younger brother with small arms/hands to give it ago.

I would take a closer look at mine to see where abouts the screws are on the ignition to help you work out what body panels you might need to take off to allow more space but i have not got my bike at the moment.

the screw/bolts you are on about are called snap head bolts they will be either 6mm or 8mm thread and are designed to shear the head off them once they are tight you will need to replace them both and if i was you would use a bit of studlock or threadlock on them to stop them shaking loose again.

took it to the mechanics today.

turms out someone had tried to steal the bike from the previous owner, the mechanic took the handle bars off and said someone tried to break the steering lock and they bent the metal holder for the ignition barrel, they bent it back into place and got the screw out.

so it shouldnt be happening again :)

only cost £20 to fix :D
