Recently looking at an NSR-125 as it's really the only sport-looking bike I like. Viewing one in the next few days but one thing has my a bit worried. In the description, it is labeled as needing 'all it need is starter motor powerband but it works fine with out it.'

What's your opinion on this, price for part, how much to get fitted etc.

On ebay I've seen the parts for 120-150 but I'm thinking finding a breaking/salvage and knocking prices down for the part.

never heard of a startermotor powerband the powerband is made by power produced by the engine and a valve in the exhaust and ths starter motor starts the engine and has othing to do with creating a 'powerband' ? i would go ask a few more questions of the seller to be honest

I'm hoping he ain't a chav, going to judge him when I get there.

That's the full description anyway, 16.500 miles. I just thought he meant the starter motor so I looked at the price.

i wouldnt touch it personally if you look at what good ones are going for thats far to cheap

ono I'm looking getting round 500/550 if It's not too bad condition, up for spending 200/250 some repairs.

Not long passed my CBT just something to get me through until 19. Probably end up getting a better bike after 6 months, starting a job.

power valve is not easy job to sort out starter motor is easy speedo cable is easy if thats the problem but look very carefully at it find out why starter motor stopped working or if it is turning engine over but not starting compare frame number on bike to the one on the v5 also engine number if they dont match bike to v5 walk away i see the fairing is damaged and offside mirror missing finding a fairing in good nick will be hard job as most of the bikes will be front end damaged

How much am I looking at on them repairs then? I'll be taking a mechanic with me to have a look, see ifi t's woth it or not, just thinking if it's worth my time going if it's going to be a costly job.

I did indeed, you need to spend good money to get a decent NSR. At that mileage it will be due a rebuild, if you don't get it done it'll go bang.. Then you'll need a major engine rebuild/new engine. I did love my NSR even with all the problems I had and if I'm honest I'd buy another one but only as a toy not a daily bike.

You're best off buying a 4 stroke if you want a reliable bike that needs minimal attention. Yes 2 strokes are faster but you're new to riding so take it easy..

And I wouldn't buy off that person as they don't know what they're talking about so it could be something a lot worse, so walk away.

Just seen the pics, it's been down the road which could mean it's got a bent clip on. Also the red panel in the nose cone has been replaced which indicates it's had some sort of head on collision. And finally it's got an after market end can so unless it's been re-jetted it will run like a bag of shit.

how you feeling about this for 900

'Honda nsr 2 stroke with arrow exhaust sounds good 11 month tax and test runs spot on recent oil change and brake fluid wheel bearings front and rear have been done for last mot '

Just found the OLD ad for it 27 days ago 'Honda nsr x reg with arrow exhaust sounds and goes well 12 month tax and test just had new battery front and rear wheel bearings new rear indicators for mot and had new piston and crank bearings 3 months ago and just been serviced very quick bike for a 125 with it being two stroke these are becoming quite collectable and are going up in value

The bike is in good condition mechanically but could do with a respray as the panels are a bit tatty may take part ex for road or off road bike '

at least the canary is complete and seems a far more honest ad would be worth a look at

The guy isn't a time waster either, good replies on my messages. Other guy messaged me first then I've not heard from him since.

Just thinking why it's not been sold in that month, might be something up with it.

might well be ask why is been painted and has it ever been a write off on insurance claim?as a c or d cat write off bike is valued at far less than one thats undamaged even tho the damage might of only been cosmetic, would be worth running hpi check on it as well as that will tell you if its ever had claim against it

If he has receipts for the work done on the engine it's worth a shot at that price, he's right when he says they're going up in value cause they are. I will add it's missing the inspection panel on the right hand side fairing, they don't come up on eBay very often but when they do they're around £20.
