Ok guys I am trying take off the whole handle bar unit and give it a bit of TLC with a new paint job.

I have the levers on both sides off and disconnected the electrics on both sides leaving bare bars. I have removed the central nut and loosened the allen bolts attaching the bars to both forks. I can see that the whole unit moves and wants to come up but the unit underneath the ignition barrel seems to be stopping the bars coming off.

In the pic you can see a screw or bolt or something but there is no room to get anything in to undo it. Plus I cant see if it is a socket, screwdriver or allen bolt.

Anyone taken one of these off before and can remember what to do? Please. :(

the ign switch should be bolted into the top yoke and come away with it you will need to unplug the wiring from it and as you have removed the large top dome nut and then it should lift off.the nut i think you mean in 2nd pic is one of the 2 that hold the fairing bracket on and should not need to be touched

Couldn't get it off so masked everything up and painted in situ.

Quite pleased with it actually. Looks a lot better that it did anyway. :D
