CBF Throttle Whirring - help?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Started up my CbF125 this morning and it was making a rattling sound whenever I attempted to rev. Half way through my commute, I heard a clunk (like a nut falling off) and then it stopped rattling. Is there any chance this could be an issue with inside the engine or is it more likely to be a loose nut? Would anyone have any suggestions on where to take it to to get it looked at? Based in South East London atm. Any help would be great, thanks.

i would start with a visual check round the bike in daylight before riding it again and check all nuts and bolts are tight or see if any appear to be missing, check chain tightness as well you will be surprised how noises transfer around the bike

Sounds like a loose nut may now be a missing nut. Get your torch out and have a look around for threaded holes with nothing in them or threads with nothing on them.

As long as engine mounts, suspension and brake mountings are all good you should be o.k.

It sounds unlikely something within the engine came undone. I would have expected it to have seized or make a worse noise if that was the case. I'm assuming clutch and gear change are fine ?

Blimey bet that was worrying! Probably nothing serious but like others have said do a visual check.

Have you done any work on the bike recently? I remember a mate of mine telling me he was working on his rear brake callipers, phone rang so he loosely put the calliper back onto the disk. Took the call. Bolted the calliper down and went for a ride. He'd only forgotten a few steps (distracted by the call!) and ended up getting a side puncture when the calliper came loose on the motorway and munched at the tyre!
