Guest Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 A simple question: I'd love to be able to transport a kayak to the seaside using a trailer. I'm trying to see how viable it would be. From my home to the harbour is about 30 mins drive. I found this:https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-motorcycleSo from the rear Axel to the end of the trailer can't be more than 2.5m. A 12ft sea Kayak is 3.6m so therefore it would hang over the back of the trailer by 1m or so. The weight limit wouldn't be an issue as the kayak is about 27kg + trailer weight and it's 68cm wide. Would the 1m or so overhang be legal on a trailer? I know on a car the overhang can be 2m when on a roof rack.If that's all possible, of course the next concern would be making it visible so I don't lose the trailer and kayak to someone who doesn't see I'm pulling a trailer. Any ideas? Flashing lights? Has anyone towed using a bike? Thanks Quote
