The Voyager Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Me and a friend who I figured was experienced stripped my bike 2 weeks ago, I want to strip, clean, oil, repaint and build back ready for summer. We did various steps like drain the coolant and I think that's about it. Didn't drain the oil or drain the carb (just seen some videos now). How late am I to do this? What other required protocols should I have taken if any?Can anyone be so kinf to suggest things I could do now to my bike which is in over a hundred pieces in my mill? The plan is to do things like clean carbs, sand all frame and other metal down, repaint and clear coat, clean up engine and pretty much all the other lovely shiny stuff But while it's in this state should I ahve made sure to drain oil (which it will need anyway so this has to be done), but does the carb need draining? And anything else? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 carb will only need draining if you are planning on stripping it down and to be fair once you remove it from the engine just tipping it upside down will drain it anyway, you only need to drain eninge oil if you are going to be doing any work on it where you have to remove casings if not then no need to drain it Quote
