skiffer Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Has anyone used these?? I steered away from filter cones based on feedback. What about the foam ram air filters? Quote
maccy Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I have used a pipercross foam filter before, I'd imagine the RamAir ones are pretty much the exact same. They do the job and keep the crap out. If your after performance increase it wont be noticable, You end up with a slightly different induction noise though. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 chances are it will mess up the mxtures on the carbs and they would need resetting more hassl than its worth to be honest Quote
skiffer Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 The reset option may be needed anyway as it idles pretty roughly at points and that's following changes to plugs, oil, filters and a fuel line cleaner. No idea when them carbs would have been stripped last. Knowing then I may have to replace the tiny bits it'll need rebalancing then wouldn't it. Surely that then would counter. It's long term at the moment anyway and I'm looking at lots of different things to throw money at. Doing my bit for the economy! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 its not very often carbs go out of balance to be fair and when servicing if standard filters are refitted then the carbs shouldnt need touching if any thing i would look into k&n replacement filter that goes into airbox like a standard one does and see if that improves anything then once oil and filter and plugs are changed getting carbs balanced should only cost you £30-£40 depending on where you go Quote
Babba Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Why fit any kind of pod filter? The most you need to fit would be a K+N replacement to the standard airbox. If this is for your Bandit 600, then the BEST performance mod you could do would be to upgrade the suspension. This will enable you to ride the thing a little bit faster because your confidence in the bike will have improved considerably. I've already raised the read by 35mm. That in itself made a HUGE difference to handling. Quote
