RB89 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Hey, I'm tidying up an old ER5 that's sat in bits in my garage for the last 18 months and I can't get the new (second hand) exhaust to fit. What would be the best way to bend the exhaust so it lines up with the brackets? If I fit the exhaust to the cylinder head it's about 2 inches out on the exhaust hanger. I forgot to take a pic tonight but will add one in the morning. Cheers, Rhys Quote
fq-craigus Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Are you loosely moking it up or have you actually bolted it to the head? If its for the bike the exhaust should fit unless something is obviously bent Quote
RB89 Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 Hi, Thanks for the reply. Originally I loosely fitted it but then once the brackets were tightened, it wouldn't tighten fully on the cylinder head and blows. So I tried it by tightening the cylinder head bolts first and then the brackets won't line up. Even though it doesn't look bent, I think it must be, so need to try and bend it with out damaging it. fq-craigus Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Yeah exhausts can warp like many other things over time, is it a genuine part? As i find with some exhausts non OE they are slightly out of shape and need manipultion, with heat and bars. I take it you have the collars in the cylinders and they are all ok? Quote
