Phooey Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Guys I need your help, AGAIN!My key won't turn the locking petrol cap. It did this once before but after a squirt of WD40 it was free and had no problems since. Loads of WD40 and even more patience and it isn't moving. I am thinking about removing the allen bolts around the outer edge and gaining access to the lock so that I can squirt it to free it. Will the removal of the allen bolts facilitate the removal of the lock or am I barking up the wrong tree?Cheers guys. Quote
Phooey Posted April 17, 2015 Author Posted April 17, 2015 Eventually managed to geet it open The lock is dryer than a nun's doodah! I have managed to free it now but what is the best lube to use to keep it free. I presume that the petrol dries it out. Quote
rice-pudding Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I'd say graphite powder is your best bet! WD40 and other wet lubes are good for a while but end up making it worse in the long run. Quote
Guest Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 +1 to the graphite powder..That lock wont give you any troubles for quite some time Quote
