Engine dies when snap throttle open

Hi

Suzuki VL125 Intruder started after a year with no use. Drained & replaced fuel and added a drop of Redex.

Bike idles OK and revs, but only revs on slow throttle opening, if I snap the throttle open quickly it tries to die. Could this be down to crud varnish/gum in the carb? am thinking the Redex would dissolve the gum deposits in time, if that, maybe the carb will need a strip & clean? or could it be the battery not charged enough? so not giving a big enough spark for pickup?

Any ideas please?

Cheers, Dave
