Guest Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Hi all,Looking for a bit of advice on a fuel gauge issue on my 2010 Honda CBF125.When starting the bike, the fuel gauge is stuck on empty. I've recently replaced the battery so tried to manually move the needle to see if it was just a new battery issue.Pushing the needle to the full mark and then switching on the ignition causes it to slowly move back to past the Empty (E) sign. However, I've noticed that playing around with the fuel sensor in the tank (pushing the float up and down) controls the speed at which the fuel gauge returns to E.This suggests that the sensor is partially working at least and being relayed to the gauge. But if this is the case, I'm not sure why it keeps returning to a bit past empty.Any thoughts would be ace?Cheers. eastanglianbiker Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 i would check the plug that is on the wire make sure its connected properly other than that it could be the sender itself failed Quote
fq-craigus Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Sounds like resistance in the sender isnt being relayed to gague, sender faulty i reacon Quote
motomarino Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Do a drop test on the sender unit. Check available power to the unit with it unplugged and the plug in to drop test. It should as it says, drop. If it stays the same the sender is faulty.Look at you battery connects and surrounding wiring. Gauges can go up or down for different things. A broken wire can make it go up or down depending on earth or live wire.Test the sender to set your mind at ease, and then start fro where you last disturbed the wiring. You haven't broken anything, better a bad wire is discovered now, than on a wet motorway trip. Quote
