C&C I can understand but.....

 

I downloaded Red Alert a few months ago from here... http://cncnet.org/red-alert

Forgot how good the game is, but also how small the maps are!

TA is a much better game than C&C. My first RTS I played was Dune 2 on my amiga home computer

Dawn of War 1 and Company of Heroes were the absolute pinnacle of the RTS genre in my mind, they really had it down to a fine art. The upgrade system gave you an amazing range of tactical options, and the paper-scissors-stone system for armour was really good. Plus I liked how every single army worked on a completely different mechanic, not just minor twists on the same core formula like C&C games.

Yes but I'm old as well and I know what you are talking about . I started my gaming back in the day with a black and white telly playing pong on some old console. So not all old people are non gamers. Some of us have grown up playing games since we were around 16 years old. You bloody young whipper-snappers

Emerald Weapon was beatable with enough Bahamut Zero x4. The main thing with Emerald, as I recall, was phoenix cos he did that Aire Tam Storm attack.

KOTR was just so sickeningly long to have to sit through for so many times haha.

AIRE TAM storm (or Materia anagram) deals 1,111 HP for every Materia. If you have 5 Materia's on you, it will damage 5,555.

I enjoyed TA, though I found it did get a bit stalematey at times.

You could build nukes, the other guy could build anti nuke missiles haha.
