gaz73 Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Hi all, I need to remove the cylinder from my bike and im a complete noob with no manuals, all I want to do is see if the problem is a crack, gasket or something else, do I need to make sure the piston is set at a specific place before I remove the cylinder? Thanks.the previous owner hit the exhaust hard forcing the cylinder upwards hard, its took 2 years of me riding not knowing this for it to leak. oldie59 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 As it's a 2 stroke you should be able to remove the cylinder head and cylinder without having to worry about it too much as long as you don't move the piston from it's position. There is loads of info about this scooter online, including downloadable manuals Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 the piston can be in any position as said only thing y ou need to do is make sure you dont damage the piston rings when refitting the barrel, chances are if it is leaking water its either damaged t he seals numbers 10 and 11 in that diagram which you dont need to remove the barrel to change just the cylinder head,or worst way the barrel is cracked and will need replacing in which case i would buy a barrel and piston so the bike has a completely new top end Quote
gaz73 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Thanks, I removed the cylinder and theres no gasket and water and sludge is all over the piston and everything. the bike has been owned by such a moron in the past ive noticed a few things like this. Quote
