Bhawk Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Hey everyone when I bought my bike (Yamaha thundercat) I also splashed out and bought a bagster tank cover. Cost just over 100, it's a perfect fit and looks like decent leather, the only worry I have is how it will stand up once it's been wet which will inevitably happen at some point. But main reason I got it, was on my old bike I managed to scratch the tank, however little it was it really annoyed me, hopefully with the tank cover that can't happen now. It looks good on the bike too. So does anyone else have one, and if so, how did you find it, are they as good as I'm hoping?Any bad points to having one?Cheers Quote
Guest Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Its an old trick.. using a Bagster to cover a damaged tank and hide it. nothing wrong with that.. and no reason to worry about anything. Its designed to survive in all weathers. btw.. they arent made from leather.. if they were then they would need far more 'upkeep'. cleaning and feeding.to clean.. just use any 'plastics' cleaner from the car aisle in Halfords, or perhaps a spray of WD40 on a cloth.. and a wipe over with that, for a shine. or just simply wash it down with bike wash... and rinse away. They are very low maintenance.Only thing to be aware of.. be careful when filling the tank with petrol, that none drips and gets under the cover - where you cant quickly wipe it away. It might stain.every couple of months take the cover off and wash/wax the tank.. it tends to get grimy around the edges of the cover.. round the petrol cap too. and thats about it. Quote
