Averandomage Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Hi all,I have been skimming the internet for a couple of days trying to figure out what the correct valve clearance is for my cross city - lots of forum posts everywhere asking the same, but no real answer (I could find). I can't find a shop e-manual either, and the engine is variably claimed to be a honda CG, CLR , xl/r , CB or a chinese brand. The user manual helpfully advises to adjust the clearance if necessary, and thats it Maybe somebody can help me out here? Any advice / help much appreciated Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 You could try this manual its a chinese copy of the cg125 , called a Hartford , used in USAhttps://www.manualslib.com/manual/825652/Hartford-Cg-125.html use extreme caution Quote
Classickid21 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 go to halfrauds and buy a manual for Derbi Cross city 125cc ? £17-20 Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 is it old enough or done enough miles to need the valve clearances doing?or is it just that its a bit noisy you want to do it Quote
Averandomage Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 I will check out the pdf once I'm home (with caution ), thanks.Couldn't find it listed on the Halford website unfortunately. It is quite new, first registered in late 2015.. but turned noisier (after a day of rougher riding) to the point that I'm worried about serious damage, so thought it most prudent to make sure the valves are set right. RantMachine Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Ooh! Ooh! I can do the Spanner thing for once, too!http://die-kleinkraftrad-ig.de/wissensdatenbank/reparaturanleitungcg125.pdfThis is the one I use when I have to do stuff on my CG If it's anything like mine, it'll be bloody noisy no matter what you do with it Quote

You German by any chance? While it is a noisy piece, it's definitely more so than it should be right now its the typical (or so I've read) clicking noise. Quote
RantMachine Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Nah, Cambridge boy through and through. Just found that through a bit of searching online, linked on a forum somewhere.I'm not sure just how much noise is normal for a CG, and I figure I'm better off not knowing I keep it serviced and I check the valves every now and then, that should be good enough Quote

Here's a bit of trivia - Spanner is colloquial for peeping tom in German no offence intended Quote
ThePhatomfart Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 This might point you in the right directionhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/hweu4cy3p8fhqii/Derbi%20Cross%20City.pdf?dl=1 Quote

RantMachine Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Well, you'll certainly be able to tell which it is once you've got the top off Quote
